Karma Tutoring Center

Beginning this Summer with our Summer Reading Camp Program!

Karma (car-ma) is a word meaning the result of a person’s actions as well as the actions themselves. It is a term about the cycle of cause and effect. According to the theory of Karma, what happens to a person, happens because they caused it with their actions. (WIKIPEDIA)

Many Karma businesses are popping up nation-wide.  With a pay what you can afford philosophy, everyone wins! Sherri Hutchins is organizing just such a tutoring center here in Albuquerque. For parents, a welcome relief, finally my student will be able to read. And for our volunteers, a fun and positive way to give back. We are currently seeking a commercial space, with plans to begin in the NE section of Albuquerque. Plans are in place to expand to additional areas of our county, perhaps some tutors will even have satellite locations.

You’ve heard about this idea, and now is the time to get involved! Families pay what they can afford or volunteer in kind. A true community program! Their students get the benefit of a proven reading program – results in reading improvement are guaranteed.

Sherri’s Tutoring aka, Fun to Read Tutor has been operating with Sing, Spell, Read and Write since 1996 here in Albuquerque. And now it’s time to expand, because every child deserves to learn how to read. Utilizing volunteers and generous caring community business leaders, who are being asked to donate supplies, this non-profit promises to deliver what our city needs. Students who can read proficiently!

It is never too late to learn how to read, but imagine learning well from Kindergarten and up. With a consistent program in place all children can learn to read.  We know that if a student can read well the other subjects fall into place.

It’s no secret that our APS students need help with their reading. Monday, January 9th, 2017 Albuquerque Journal  — Most New Mexico third-graders who cannot read or meet literacy standards still advance to the next grade, while parents are not being informed properly of reading difficulties, according to new data. The Public Education Department compiled statistics for the first time that show 6,815 students in third grade during the last school year did not attain proficiency in reading and that more than 95 percent, or 6,477, of those students moved on to fourth grade in the fall.

If you’d like to be in on the fun, e-mail us now, for June or July programs (See the Directory listing for details) and volunteers should e-mail for more information. Businesses may also contact us with donations.

This is a phonics based, total language arts program that gets results. By using a multi-sensory approach, every person can learn to read. Volunteers will teach students using a fun multi-sensory technique. Testing is included, the reading tests that tell you where your student is reading, by grade level and month. Let’s teach your student to read!
